Characteristics of Weathering Steel

  Weathering steel alloy composition and percentage weight concentration are: C:0.12~0.21, Si:0.2~2.0, Mn:0.7~2.0, s ≤ 0.036, p ≤ 0.034, Cu:0.10~0.40, Al<0.2 and the rest for Fe and trace impurities.
 Through Cu, Mn, Si, Al, alloying, and simple adjustment of low carbon steel (steel Q235) part of the element content, without changing the Q235 steel, production conditions, will be able to produce a good resistance to atmospheric corrosion, mechanical properties of economic weathering steel.

A588M weathering steel is a series of low alloy steels between normal steel and stainless steel, carbon steel adds a small amount of copper, nickel and other corrosion-resistant elements, and tough, plastic with stainless steel rolling, forming, welding and cutting, abrasion, high temperature, fatigue resistance properties; weather resistance for carbon steel 2~8 double coating for carbon steel 1.5~10 times. Mainly used in railway cars, bridges, towers and other long-term use of steel exposed to the atmosphere.
